We use top grain leather from our whitetail deerskins which are sourced from a family-owned facility located in Upstate NY, using clean Adirondack Mountain water in its tanning process. This trusted supplier has been in business for over 40 years and is one of the largest deer and bison suppliers in the USA. Skins are carefully selected from the best regions in North America, mostly from the upper midwest and northeast regions of the USA. Deerskin is the richest, nicest feeling natural leather in the world. Its natural strength and beautiful grain gives it an exceptional look and handfeel.
Our "distressed brown" colorway has been hand-buffed by a highly skilled leather artisan. Three to four different coating combinations of dye are applied by hand across the skin. The appearance becomes one-of-a-kind and no two skins are alike.
Deerskin is unlike most of the leather in the world, in that it is a direct result of the conservation efforts by the state and federal conservation and environmental agencies. These hides are not a by-product of the meat industry. Rather, in order to keep the deer herds healthy and viable, these agencies require the hunting of the animals and regulate the numbers harvested. It is from these skins our supplier acquires the hides, eliminating any waste of this beautiful natural resource.
